What will you be doing!
  • Managing, creating, and reviewing emergency response planning and documentation.
  • Managing, creating, evaluating, and reporting on drills/exercises and coordinating any corrective actions that are displayed as “gaps,” during any emergency response exercises.
  • holding accountability for emergency response supplies and equipment, and coordinating with maintenance staff to ensure it is on a preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Maintaining and operating site-specific emergency operations centers.
  • Preparing, creating, and managing site-specific general emergency preparedness activities to ensure safety and licensing requirements are met at all CNL sites.
  • Creating, managing, maintaining, and regularly reviewing emergency management training for both internal CNL staff, along with other external emergency response agencies (Local Paramedics, Local Fire Departments, Local Police Services), so that integrated emergency response plans are developed and trained too.
  • Managing business targets to ensure emergency response objectives are met, while maintaining a cost‑effective and efficient approach to delivering emergency response requirements, along with safety to specific CNL sites.
  • Managing records maintenance and purchases through CNL‑approved software systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • Degree with 3 years’ experience preferred, or Diploma or Post Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management from a recognized Post‑Secondary Institution, with 5 years of related work experience, or be in possession of 5‑8 years of relevant work experience in emergency management and/or a Security or Fire program management field.
  • Experience
    • Five plus years of work experience in emergency management is preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to clearly communicate effectively both written and oral at all levels of the organization in an ethical manner as laid by CNL “Code of Conduct,” by treating others with respect, and challenging others who might not be doing so.
    • Demonstration of a “safety first” attitude by ensuring activities are conducted with CNL, public and employee safety foremost in mind.
    • Ability to manage and comprehend an extensive range of technological and/or business issues such as radiation protection, fire, industrial hygiene, security, logistics, and communications – both internal and external.
    • Proven ability to interpret relevant Federal, Provincial, and nuclear legislation and regulations and be able to communicate impacts from the aforementioned legislation to the CNL Health, Safety, and Environment (HSSE) program to facilitate resolutions.
    • Ability to work effectively and maintain composure under stressful situations and independently to meet deliverables.
    • Knowledge of emergency management drill/exercise design and implementation.
    • Experience in crisis communication and public information management, in addition to Hazard identification and Risk assessment.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
  • Required to be on call at least 25 percent of the year and be capable of responding to their specific site within 90 minutes during the off shift.
