About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established non‑profit organization in Ottawa, is seeking a Director of Finance to join their leadership team. The Director of Finance plays a key leadership role and is responsible for ensuring the long‑term financial sustainability of the organization. As a member of the senior leadership team, this individual provides strategic oversight of the finance and accounting functions while supporting budgeting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and long‑term financial planning.
This position will support the organization through an important period of growth and transformation.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all finance and accounting operations
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Lead annual corporate and property budgeting processes
- Oversee monthly financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Coordinate financial and regulatory reporting to funding and financing bodies
- Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
- Support long‑term financial planning including capital reserve planning and financial modeling
- Identify financial risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies and insurance coverage
- Present financial reporting and recommendations to the Finance and Audit Committee and Board of Directors
- Oversee financial reporting for development projects and construction initiatives
- Lead and mentor members of the finance team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
- Support integration and effectiveness of financial systems and data across departments
- Represent the organization with external partners, regulators, and funding bodies
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational decision‑making
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
- Minimum 7 years of progressive finance experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and long‑term financial planning
- Experience leading external audits and working with auditors
- Demonstrated ability to provide financial guidance to senior leadership and boards
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring finance teams
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication, analytical, and presentation skills
About the Job
- Salary: $92,000 to $120,750
