Financial Planner, Scotia Financial Planning - Ottawa, ON What is the role of a Financial Planner?As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening mass affluent client relationships by providing high quality advice and service. You build and leverage external and internal networks and centres of influence, growing a practice through new and long‑term relationships.
- External clients – Engage in proactive client outreach to individuals outside the Scotiabank network, showcasing the unique value a Financial Planner brings to their financial journey.
- Internal clients – Deepen relationships with existing Scotiabank clients who have limited interactions with the bank, proactively mining opportunities and building strong internal partnerships.
- Driven by purpose and determination, prioritizing delivery of personalized investment and financial planning advice that empowers clients to achieve their goals with confidence.
- Flexible, able to meet clients outside the office on a schedule that suits both you and them.

- Drive investment sales and new client acquisition, adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Establish business development opportunities with prospects and clients within the assigned market area.
- Promote development and sustainable growth of proprietary investment business by executing on business development plans for mass affluent prospects and existing clients.
- Provide client‑centric investment solutions through a financial planning framework, conducting outbound communications and proactive calling.
- Participate actively in local professional and community events, delivering information sessions and financial seminars to expand your network and develop prospects.
- 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
- Mutual fund certified professional with current accreditation and good standing for CIRO licensing requirements.
- Holder of a Personal Financial Planning (PFP®) designation and/or Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.
- Proven networking, client acquisition and interpersonal skills; experience building and maintaining Centres of Influence.
- Goal‑oriented, entrepreneurial, able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team.
- Extensive knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, economic conditions, and the regulatory environment.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for meeting clients within the district.
