Position & Team Overview

Fin Dev Canada’s Investments Team manages and expands our portfolio of direct and indirect investments. The team handles business development, transaction processing (debt, equity) and blended finance, meeting portfolio growth and mobilization targets.

What You Will Be Doing Participate in Deal Analysis
  • Conduct financial transaction due diligence and analysis
  • Evaluate reference calls and draft investment proposals
  • Identify early credit risks and guide mitigation strategies
  • Present risks and mitigants internally, implementing adequate mitigants
  • Support investment officers in evaluating management teams and portfolio entities
  • Perform detailed financial and SWOT analyses; develop financial models, conduct sensitivity analyses
Support Execution and Monitoring of Transactions
  • Manage internal closing processes and assist in executing transactions
  • Validate draw‑down requests and monitor compliance with fund documents
  • Review valuations, ensure methodology appropriateness, and communicate assessments to committees
  • Support monitoring of portfolio performance and evaluate management entities
  • Draft annual reviews
Communicate Proactively
  • Maintain reliable communication with investment team members and internal stakeholders
Coordinate with Colleagues
  • Work closely with social, environmental, gender, technical assistance, and concessional finance colleagues to add value to clients’ businesses
Build Relationships
  • Collaborate with senior team members to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Coach and train junior analysts and associates in financial analysis and processing skills
Participate in Industry Events

Representation at conferences and industry gatherings to promote Fin Dev Canada’s mandate.

What We Are Looking For Must‑haves
  • Completed CFA, MBA, or MSc in Finance (or related) – preferred
  • 3‑5 years relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, or development finance institutions
  • Experience with investment transactions, client relationship development, sourcing, negotiating, structuring and closing quality investments
  • Robust financial and credit skills; sound business judgment and modelling expertise
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel throughout the sub‑region
Nice‑to‑Haves
  • Experience in renewable energy, climate finance, infrastructure, Agri‑supply chains, or financial intermediaries
  • Experience working in emerging markets
  • Background in international or commercial banking, especially structuring experience
  • Experience with syndication/mobilization and blended finance/concessional capital
  • Proficiency in English, French and/or Spanish
