Reporting to Ronald Millett as a Photonic Design Co-op in the Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design team, you will join a world-class team of engineers drafting the building blocks of the next generation of high-speed optical networks. You will use your deep knowledge of the underlying physical theory behind photonic devices, and couple that with the practical skills to create manufacturable high-performance designs.

• You will help design lasers, optical amplifiers, optical modulators and related components for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• You will conduct s imulations of lasers, amplifiers, optical modulators and related components.
• You will a nalyze and interpret R&D test results and connect them to the underlying physical theory and computer models.
• You will be accountable for communicating clear and concise design decisions and related test data.

The Must Haves:

• Working towards completion of a
  
  B.Sc in science or engineering.
• Demonstrated proficiency in at least one complex optical or optoelectronic simulation tool.

Assets:

• Working towards completion of an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Science or engineering.
• Familiarity with photonic device testing and/or statistical analysis.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
