Our Special Projects division is an integral part of our Structural Engineering Team. Our focus is on small and large scale project involving building renovations, tenant fit-ups, the component design of various structural members, and the review and detailing of typical and atypical structural elements.
Your Main Responsabilities- Perform site reviews, gather data and prepare reports, drawings and specifications of construction/renovation/rehabilitation projects under direction of the Lead Project Engineer.
- Perform investigations required to diagnose specific problems and develop solutions.
- Perform analysis and design of structural elements of a variety of materials including: concrete, steel, masonry, light-gage metal, wood, and pre-cast in accordance with the latest codes and standards.
- Carries out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data, and adherence to established codes and standards and specifications.
- Regularly identifies problems and devises practical and economical solutions.
- Work in cooperation with our REVIT/CAD operators, utilizing drafting software, to develop accurate project structural drawings and sketches.
- Assist junior staff with projects assigned by the Department Director.
- Attendance at regular Departmental and Project Meetings with Senior Staff and Directors.
- Perform on-site field reviews of to assess constructed element are in conformance and the preparation of any associated field review reports and contract administration documents.
- Regularly review all material and building codes and standards (including all updates) to ensure accuracy of structural designs and analysis techniques and requirements.
- Completed an undergraduate or master’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science degree in Structural (Civil) Engineering.
- This is a full time position within our Structural, Special Projects Division for an engineer with a minimum of 4 years of related experience in the field of structural engineering.
- Is a licensed professional engineer, or is soon to receive their engineering license, under the terms and conditions of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
- The engineer requires proven expertise in working independently, dealing directly with clients, engineering/certifying projects and working with junior staff to assist on projects. Proficient in using structural analysis software including but not limited to; S-Frame, Etabs, S-Concrete, Woodworks, SP Slab, etc.
- Possess a balance of technical and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Adept at making observations and identifying problems. Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Hourly salary range: $35.90 – $46.15 per hour, with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, scope of the role, and geographic location.
