* The Opportunity:

** 4 month work term:
May – August 2026
** How You Will Contribute:
**** We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative student to join the hardware development team working on Ciena’s Switching products.
** The position will be tailored to the successful applicant and will involve working with senior designers to implement and validate leading edge circuit packs.
* Support hardware test and debug of new and existing circuit boards
* Board programming, prototype inventory, etc.
* Assist in performing thorough design verification to validate functionality, performance, operating margins, and robustness.
* Signal integrity measurements, thermal stress, component qualification, etc.
* Contribute to documentation such as Design Specification and Test Plans
* The candidate will get exposure to the detailed design of high-speed digital and analog circuits
* working in Cadence CAD tools (Concept/Allegro)
* Learn how fiber optic transport equipment and associated test equipment function.
** The Must Haves:
*** Working towards completion of a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
* Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
** Assets:
*** Familiarity with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers and test sets)
* Understanding of high speed signaling, transmission lines, digital and analog design
* Experience designing and debugging hardware
* Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools
** Pay Range:
** The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00
