Your Role as Transmission & Distribution Line Engineer

Reporting to the Supervisor, Civil & Structural Engineering Services, you will take the lead on medium-to-large-scale transmission and distribution line projects. You will independently perform advanced technical calculations, develop and review engineering designs, and ensure all deliverables align with industry standards, safety requirements, and client expectations. You’ll also support junior staff, help shape our engineering expertise, and play a key role in business development.

Key Accountabilities
  • Technical and Documentation
    • Independently prepares and verifies complex technical calculations.
    • Reviews, approves, performs and finalizes detailed transmission and distribution line designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes (e.g., CSA, IEEE), utility standards, and regulations.
    • Leads site visits for data collection, and assessments and to provide recommendations for remedial action.
    • Leads and provides oversight for QAQC (quality assurance quality control) checks as required.
    • Completes and reviews project documentation and technical report development.
  • Project Coordination and Management
    • Provide leadership and strategic direction to project teams.
    • Leads large projects and project teams, ensuring project delivery meets scopes, schedules, budget, and quality requirements.
    • Provides oversight in planning and execution of complex projects.
    • Manages project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
    • Coordinates and manages the project team, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.
    • Supervision over other engineers or technicians when required on a non-regular basis.
  • Professional Development
    • Participates in training and certification programs, as required.
    • Attends relevant industry workshops and seminars, as required.
    • Drives a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
    • Provides mentorship and leadership to junior engineers and junior staff.
    • Engages in learning opportunities to develop technical, leadership, and other professional skills.
Qualifications
  • A degree in civil engineering or another engineering degree with demonstrated experience with Transmission and/or Distribution Line design.
  • Registered with PEO, and holds a Professional Engineering License (P.Eng), or equivalent in Canada.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and regulations is required.
  • Familiarity with drafting and design software tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites applications.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high quality work.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable design practices.
  • Willingness to travel as required and attend meetings and field visits to client sites.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and meet required deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle.

Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours/week)
