What is the Opportunity?The EHS Advisor will actively promote a health, safety, and environmental culture across all levels of employees in accordance with Aecon's Health, Safety and Environmental Manual. The position focuses on the Renewables Projects Construction team.
Responsibilities- Drive an inclusive culture and promote equity and belonging.
- Conduct employee health and safety orientation and site‑specific safety orientation for workers, owners, and clients.
- Train employees in fall protection, confined space entry, traffic protection, traffic control, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response.
- Coordinate training such as WHMIS, First Aid, Forklift, Propane, etc.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits and behavioural observations.
- Develop workplace plans—emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls, fall protection.
- Distribute safety material, supplies and equipment as needed.
- Present safety to clients and promote Aecon safety systems.
- Participate as a guest of the Joint Health and Safety Committees.
- Analyze accident trends and conduct studies.
- Inspect project facilities, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate environmental issues.
- Assist with workers compensation claims and associated activities.
- Develop return‑to‑work and modified work programs.
- Investigate accidents/incidents and mediate health and safety issues.
- Prepare and assist with internal and external safety audits.
- Previous experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and construction regulations.
- Experience in Aerial Hydro and Telecommunications is an asset.
- Knowledge of WHMIS, Asbestos in Construction, Designated Substances, and Smoking in the Workplace.
- Must hold an NCSO designation.
- Comfortable travelling to various job sites from Peterborough to Ottawa.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive.

- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule to meet deadlines.
- Valid G driver’s license.
