Responsibilities- You will determine the flight test program necessary for the aircraft certification approval.
- You will act as test pilot flight crew member to conduct flight tests necessary for certification and to audit manufacturers production standards.
- You will be responsible to develop new regulations and new advisory material including acceptable flight test techniques necessary for certification of newly developed aircraft, aircraft systems and system features for which existing regulations and advisory material are either inadequate or do not exist.
- You will review qualifications and will make specialist recommendations for authorization for ministerial delegation to individuals and organizations for design approval flight testing of aeronautical products.
- You will maintain a high level of conventional and flight test specific piloting skills and will participate in professional development and skills enhancement training as required by the Department.
The reporting location for this position is located at 159 Cleopatra Drive in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Office attendance of a minimum of three days per week required in accordance with latest TBS policy, and subject to change.
To be consideredEducation:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in engineering, mathematics, science or in a field relevant to the duties of the position; AND successful completion of a one year Engineering Test Pilot course recognized by Transport Canada.
- OR Graduation with a degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution or eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada; AND minimum of five years of experience as an experimental or developmental test pilot with a manufacturer of civil certified transport category aircraft.
Experience:
- Significant engineering flight test experience as a pilot in command (PIC) of a number of airplane types.
- Significant experience as an airplane engineering test test pilot (ETP).
