What You Will Do

Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of systems (including detailed troubleshooting). Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct on‑site customer interface. Mentors control technicians, service technicians and mechanical technicians on building automation activities, completes required project and service documentation, and provides customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.

Acts as a trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

How You Will Do It
  • Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of electronic or digital controls systems and the ability to test and write modifications in multiple language systems software.
  • Consult customers through data gathered and site assessments, provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades or enhancements, and assist sales with technical recommendations for sales leads.
  • Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction; report problems or changes to management immediately; coordinate with branch and service managers or subcontractors.
  • Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings; assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the site; keep customers informed on service, outstanding issues, and recommend system enhancements, upgrades or replacement; promote sale of add‑on work.
  • Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards; provide safety leadership and instruction to all control technicians; promote safety awareness with subcontractors.
  • Train customers on control system operations; deliver manuals and documentation for training needs.
  • Mentor control and service technicians on complex building automation systems; coach, support, and train on non‑complex equipment.
  • Compile job documentation such as certificates of completion, customer training forms, training certificates, and punch lists.
  • Conduct extensive self‑study to improve and maintain technical proficiency; complete certifications as required by the company.
  • Perform other duties related to installing, commissioning, and servicing building controls, facilities management systems and energy management systems as assigned.
  • Assist in design and configuration of building control systems, create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics.
  • Assist in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per project requirements.
  • Compile and complete project as‑built and close‑out documentation.
  • Coordinate creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
  • Select, order, and track delivery of materials for assigned projects; coordinate factory mounting processes.
  • Assist in loading and commissioning of all system and network‑level controllers; validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot with subcontractors.
  • Provide field change information to the project team for as‑built drawings and software.
  • Inform management and contractor or customer of job progress and issues.
  • Assist in site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
  • Participate in release meetings with the project field team.
  • Recommend and provide solutions to ensure facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
