Myticas Consulting is seeking a seasoned Senior FPGA / Hardware Design Engineer to join a leading innovator in high‑performance video and data solutions. You’ll play a key role in architecting and delivering next‑generation FPGA and board‑level designs for real‑time, high‑bandwidth applications such as UHD/4K video. In this role, you’ll take projects from concept through to production, working on advanced FPGA platforms and complex hardware designs, collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure highly optimized, reliable, and production‑ready systems that push the limits of performance.
Responsibilities- Lead FPGA and hardware design efforts from architecture and requirements definition through implementation, testing, and validation.
- Define system requirements, select components, and contribute to schematic and board‑level design decisions.
- Develop, verify, and debug FPGA‑based solutions, including UHD‑SDI, high‑speed transceivers, DDR interfaces, and related high‑bandwidth data paths.
- Support the full product development lifecycle, including design documentation, QA, integration, and customer‑facing technical support.
- Collaborate with firmware, software, and systems teams to deliver optimized, real‑time, production‑ready solutions.
- Must be based in Ontario, Canada and able to work on‑site in Ottawa as required.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in FPGA/RTL and hardware design engineering, including at least 5 years of related work and/or post‑secondary education experience in Canada.
- Strong RTL design and FPGA development experience using VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Hands‑on experience with modern FPGA platforms and tool chains such as Xilinx and/or Intel (Altera).
- Solid circuit design experience, including power and signal integrity and/or microprocessor‑based board design.
- Experience with real‑time operating systems (RTOS) in video, audio, or image processing applications.
- Experience in high‑volume data processing, compression, and parallel processing for 4K or other high‑resolution video systems.
- Experience with SoC integration, clock domain analysis, and timing closure for FPGA designs.
- Experience with C/C++ or Java, scripting languages, and/or broadcast video workflows.
- Proficiency using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and waveform monitors for hardware and FPGA debugging.
