:Introduction to the fundamentals of using technology for university-level studies. The course explores various topics related to the evaluation of information, media and technology; works toward an understanding of digital media within multiple contexts; examines the role of digital media in shaping beliefs and practices in society. Development of technical skills, including computer operations, file management, spreadsheets, and search strategies.

Requirements:
PhD in Communication, History or other Arts discipline with specialization in digital cultures/digital humanities methodologies. This course requires expertise in digital literacy, with knowledge of current issues, debates, and trends related to information and media literacy, data literacy, and algorithmic literacy. This includes experience working with a range of digital tools and methods to find, evaluate, and communicate information (search engines, online databases, citation management tools, fact-checking websites), to prepare and manage datasets for analysis (spreadsheets, Open Refine, Git and Git Hub), undertaking various forms of data analysis and visualization (spreadsheets, Nvivo, Timeline JS, ArcGIS, ESRI Maps, HTML, TEI.xml,
Voyant Tools) required to critically evaluate algorithmic systems. Experience teaching these tools and leading collaborative digital research projects is required.
