A Day In The Life

The Learning & Development (L&D) Advisor plays a key role in the firm’s learning and development functions by designing, developing and delivering high-impact training initiatives for lawyers and business professionals. The L&D Advisor will ensure optimal alignment with firm goals and will create programs that encourage adoption and engagement within regions.

Working closely with the Senior Director, Learning & Development, subject matter experts (SMEs), learning & development teams and other stakeholders, the Learning & Development Advisor will leverage best practices in adult learning and instructional design to build strong training programs, provide guidance on learning design, support needs analyses, create curriculums for learning & development initiatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Learning Design & Development

  • Support the Senior Director, Learning & Development with firm-wide learning programs for lawyers and senior leadership.
  • Consult with stakeholders and build curriculum for professional development training programs.
  • Act as an expert advisor on training, including design and implementation of effective and high-performing training initiatives and programs.
  • Apply instructional design principles to design content that supports learning programs and professional development.
  • Design and executes simulation-based and other innovative learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate training opportunities within the firm, including cohort and milestone training.
  • Firm-Wide Project Coordination

  • Assist teams in identifying training needs, recommend the most appropriate learning methods, and leverage advanced training technologies.
  • Coordinate learning programs with regional and sometimes hybrid/online execution.
  • Provide guidance and support in developing learning initiatives.
  • Analysis & Recommendations

  • Monitor and evaluate engagement and the effectiveness of training.
  • Ensure that training programs are current, compliant, and tailored to learner needs.
  • Analyse the impact of changes on stakeholders and propose tailored approaches to ensure buy-in and engagement.
  • Stay abreast of training trends and make appropriate recommendations to ensure the development of best practices for the firm.
  • Collaboration & Communication

  • Foster smooth communication between stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation of training projects.
  • Liaise with subject matter experts to translate complex legal and business concepts into effective learning experiences.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of various training projects across the firm.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning across the firm.
  • Must Haves

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in instructional design, adult education, learning technologies, project management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience designing and delivering learning programs, preferably within a professional service or corporate environment.
  • Experience with curriculum design and training program coordination.
  • Knowledge of recognized training methods related to adult learning and of best practices in project management and change management.
