Overview

Position:
Director, Laurentian Leadership Centre at Trinity Western University. The Director is responsible for sustaining and advancing the LLC’s semester-long program that integrates rigorous academic coursework with professional internships in Canada’s capital. The Director cultivates a learning environment that fosters Christian leadership development, public engagement, and vocational discernment.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the delivery of approved academic courses and overseeing internship placements in government, business, media, and non-profit sectors.
  • Facilitating dialogue between students and national leaders, encouraging reflection on faith in the public square.
  • Managing the Centre’s operations, including student life, community engagement, and facility stewardship.
  • Supporting students’ personal, professional, and spiritual growth through mentorship and leadership development.
  • Ensuring academic quality and compliance with university standards, including the evaluation of student field placements.
Key Areas of Accountability
  • Academic Leadership
    :
    Foster a dynamic living-learning environment through the delivery of academic courses, guest lectures, and public events. Teach one course per semester and collaborate with the Dean to recruit and support part-time instructors. Oversee the arrangement, supervision, and evaluation of student field placements, ensuring alignment with academic standards and vocational goals. Ensure academic quality and compliance with university standards.
  • Student Life and Formation
    :
    Partner with the Community Life Coordinator to cultivate a residential experience that integrates discipleship, career development, and community living. Support students’ personal and spiritual growth through mentorship and intentional programming.
  • Internship and Relationship Management
    :
    Cultivate strategic relationships across Ottawa’s political, business, media, non-governmental, and Christian communities to support student internships and program visibility. Work directly with students to identify and secure meaningful internship placements that align with their academic and vocational interests.
  • Recruitment and Promotion
    :
    Collaborate with campus departments and offices to promote the LLC program and recruit qualified students. Represent the LLC at campus events, conferences, and external engagements to enhance program awareness and reputation.
  • Resource and Team Management
    :
    Lead and manage the LLC team, including part-time faculty, Community Life Coordinator, Business Coordinator, and support staff. Foster a collaborative and mission-driven team culture that supports program excellence and student success.
  • Financial Oversight
    :
    Ensure the LLC operates within approved budget parameters. Provide effective fiscal planning and stewardship to support sustainable program growth and development.
  • Facilities Management
    :
    Oversee the maintenance and stewardship of the LLC building, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students and guests. Coordinate with TWU Facilities and external vendors as needed to address operational needs.
  • Institutional Collaboration
    :
    Maintain strong working relationships with TWU academic administration, student life, advancement, and the President’s Office. Serve as a liaison between the LLC and the broader university community to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and strategic goals.

  • Knowledge
    :
    Strong understanding of Christian higher education and its integration with public life and leadership development; familiarity with experiential learning models, internship coordination, and student development theory; knowledge of Canadian political, business, media, and non-profit sectors, particularly within the Ottawa context; awareness of budget planning, program administration, and facility operations in an academic setting; understanding of curriculum design and academic standards in post-secondary education.
