Position: Elementary Homeroom Teachers (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5)

Overview

Core Subject/Homeroom Teachers
St-Laurent Academy is a dynamic and inspiring JK to Grade 12 private school located in Ottawa, Ontario. We are growing significantly, recently purchasing a new school space in the Rockcliffe/Lindenlea neighbourhood, and are currently accepting applications for full-time Core/Homeroom Elementary Teachers for the  school year.

Positions
  • Homeroom - Core Elementary Teacher (JK - Grade 5: English, Math & Social Studies Core Subjects).
  • ALL KINDERGARTEN TEACHER must be bilingual, French & English.

Qualifications
  • Must be eligible to work in Ontario.
  • Ontario Teaching Certification (OCT) in good standing.

    Note:

    equivalent certification is accepted, with the confirmation that the candidate is and/or will be applying for OCT standing.
  • Excellent classroom management, organization, and planning skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, communication, and presentation skills in English.
  • French is a requirement for our Junior Kindergarten - Senior Kindergarten roles.
  • Computer literacy: proficient and knowledgeable with all Google Suite products (Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, Forms, Sheets) Microsoft Office (Excel), and Smart-board Technology.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Understands the needs of students and goes beyond the call of duty.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents.
  • Flexible, with an ability to adapt to changing strategies, environments, and needs.
  • Core characteristics of kindness, patience, creativity, positive energy and a love for teaching are essential.
Assets (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to communicate in French (required for our JK-SK Programs).
  • Experience in a private/independent school.
  • Experience / Education in Special Education is valued highly.
  • Coaching and leadership experiences (the Arts, Sports, Clubs, etc.) are important.
  • Experience with the Barton Reading & Spelling Program and/or Orton-Gillingham based tools.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary with additional annual bonus components.

The school follows the traditional school year calendar from early September through late June. Our High School is per semester.
