Full-Time Contract to October 31st, 2025 with Possibility of Extension – Ottawa, ON
This is a full-time salaried position that will work with other NYA Staff and partners to fully integrate Ayalik Expeditions programming under the NYA core program model.
Working at NYA- Northern Youth Abroad (NYA) is an organization that serves youth living in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories ( ). We offer experiential education programs that seek to foster cross-cultural awareness, individual career goals, and global citizenship in Northern youth. Created in 1998 NYA has more than 600 program alumni from across Nunavut and the NWT, 98% of whom are Inuit, First Nation or Métis.

- Develop tools, plans, and strategies that lead to the harmonious embedding of Ayalik Expeditions’ existing programming to live within NYA’s program model.
- Organize Program and Participant information including spreadsheets, documents, and data.
- Communicate with Participants, Project Staff, Community Liaisons, Outfitters, and other stakeholders to answer questions, share information, and support their participation.
- Support and arrange logistics relating to travel, event coordination, and program placements.
- Correspond with a broad range of stakeholders including youth, volunteers, other staff, and partner organizations. Comfortable making phone calls, responding to emails, and managing several conversations and requests.
- Track program participation and impact through several metrics and use this data to create useful and relevant reports.
- Help with funding applications and developing comprehensive reports.
- Work with other NYA Staff members to integrate Ayalik Expeditions’ programming into the NYA model including developing processes and materials to align with this amalgamation.
- This position is based out of the NYA office, and a lot of the time will have “normal” office hours. Sometimes travel may be required, as are evenings and weekends at times.
- Experience in program coordination, administration, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and data management skills (spreadsheets, documents, reporting, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to coordinate logistics for travel, events, and program placements.
- Strong interpersonal skills for relationship-building and participant support.
- Experience with grant writing, funding applications, and impact tracking.
- Adaptability, problem-solving, and a collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with experiential education, youth development, or outdoor programming (an asset).
- Passion for youth engagement and community initiatives.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in finding solutions.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and thrive under pressure.
- Team-oriented, valuing kindness, collaboration, and mutual support.
- Tech-savvy and open to learning (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Slack, Click Up, Airtable).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during peak times.
- Driver’s license (preferred).
- Prior experience working with Northern Canada and/or Indigenous youth is a highly desired asset, as is knowledge of the issues affecting youth living in the Canadian North.
