Senior School Social Studies Teacher

Ashbury College is a leading not-for-profit independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 4 to 12, located in Ottawa, Canada’s capital and the traditional, unceded territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation. Full‑time, indefinite term. Based in central Ottawa, Ashbury College is currently seeking a full‑time Grade 9 – 12 Social Studies teacher beginning in the 2026‑2027 academic year. The successful candidate will have demonstrated subject‑matter expertise in Social Studies and a history of school and community involvement, promoting belonging, bringing enthusiasm and energy to the classroom, thriving in a busy learning community, and working collaboratively with colleagues.

Current learning theories and creative use of technology are essential. Priority will be given to candidates who are Ontario College of Teachers certified.

• A degree in Geography or History.
• Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification (in good standing), currently in progress toward achieving OCT certification, or demonstrated ability to obtain OCT certification.
• Demonstrated subject‑matter expertise.

• International Baccalaureate experience.
• The ability to teach in both English and French.
• Evidence of teaching enhanced by technology.
• Demonstrated commitment to enriching whole‑school life for students, including promoting pluralism and enhancing student belonging.

• Teach full‑time (5 classes).
• Lead and participate in co‑curricular activities.
• Lead a Teacher Advisory Group.
• Provide on‑call coverage as required.
• Actively participate in department meetings, faculty teaching and learning opportunities, and whole‑school activities.

Ashbury College provides a competitive compensation package, including participation in the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. The compensation range for this position is $78,200 – $128,000, and could be greater, based on qualifications and years of experience.
