Job DescriptionAECOM and its Buildings + Places business line are seeking a talented and innovative Architectural Designer to join our dynamic architectural team in Ottawa, Ontario
. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative projects that shape communities and enhance the built environment. At AECOM

- Design Development: Create architectural designs and conceptual solutions that balance aesthetics, functionality, and client requirements.
- Technical Documentation: Produce detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using industry-standard design tools, including Revit and BIM software.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including internal consultants, contractors, and clients, to ensure fully coordinated and integrated design solutions.
- Research and Compliance: Conduct research on building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in project meetings and presentations to effectively communicate design concepts and solutions to stakeholders.
- Design Review: Review and analyze design proposals, identifying potential improvements and innovative approaches.
- Permitting Coordination: Assist in coordinating with permitting authorities and regulatory agencies to support project approvals.
- Continuous Learning: Maintain current knowledge of architectural trends, sustainable design practices, and emerging technologies.
- Business Development Support: Contribute to proposal writing and conceptual designs for new projects, supporting business development efforts.
- Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting project deadlines.
- Team
Collaboration:
Provide constructive feedback and collaborate with team members to refine designs and solve complex design challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or diploma/certificate in Architectural Technology.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and architectural standards.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team environments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
- 2+ years of professional architectural experience.
- Proficiency with BIM software (Revit), AutoCAD, and related design tools.
- Experience with large-scale or complex architectural projects.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies.
- Experience working with permitting authorities and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of current architectural trends and innovative design practices.
- Experience with 3D visualization and rendering software.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively and analytically.
