Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architect to lead complex building projects in our Ottawa office. This is a key leadership role in our growing team, focused on Alternative Delivery projects (Design-Build, IPD, P3, MDB) for public and private sector clients.
As a Senior Architect at AECOM, you will have the opportunity to own the design process, lead client relationships, and shape project outcomes while working alongside award-winning professionals in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. This role offers exposure to large-scale, high-profile projects in Ottawa and across Canada.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead architectural design and project delivery on Alternative Delivery projects
Serve as the primary client interface, managing expectations and building strong relationships
Provide strategic oversight for multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring design intent is realized from concept through construction
Prepare and review design documentation, construction details, specifications, and cost estimates
Mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership within the team
Collaborate with internal and external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
Contribute to business development, proposals, and project planning initiatives
Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code and established architectural standards
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Architecture
Licensed Architect with the OAA
6+ years of experience on complex building projects
Proven experience with Alternative Delivery models (Design-Build, IPD, P3, MDB)
Proficiency in Revit
Client-facing experience with strong communication and presentation skills
Eligible for security clearance
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
Deep knowledge of Ontario Building Code and building systems
Experience in project management for large-scale projects
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Photoshop, and other visualization tools
Experience with permitting and approvals processes in Canadian municipalities
Ability to lead design workshops and high-level client presentations
