Perkins & Will is a multi‑disciplinary design firm specializing in the design of public buildings and spaces, including recreation centres, libraries, academic facilities, corporate and commercial projects and transit projects. The studio consists of architects, interior designers and urban designers and places a strong emphasis on design excellence and sustainability. Perkins & Will is looking for an Architect who performs in a self‑directed manner in all aspects of the building design process, including preparation of presentation materials, schematic design, design development and contract documents, model building, rendering and construction administration activities within an established budget, schedule, site and programmatic requirements.
Responsibilities- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of project complexity to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
- Develops creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team.
- Coordinates drawings for schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
- Analyzes product research and identifies material selections.
- Takes an active role in crafting client and non‑client design presentations and prepares corresponding materials.
- Implements a creative approach to complete tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of schedule and budget, in an organized, timely, and consistent way.
- Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
- Supports growth of others.
- Expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.
- Takes increasing ownership on tasks within project teams and studio activities.
- Participates in design reviews, charettes and pin‑ups.
- Keeps open communication within team and with designated team leader.
- Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.
- Coordinates effectively with partners and consultants.
- Professional Degree in Architecture.
- 5+ years experience.
- Minimum of 2 years working with Revit.
- Experience in Contract Administration.
- Experience in all phases and aspects of a project is desirable.
- Intermediate knowledge of project design and construction documentation production.
- Knowledge of construction materials.
- Graphic and 3‑D visualization skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative and professional work ethic.
- LEED AP or within 6 months of hire.
- Comfortable working in an open, multi‑disciplinary, and team‑oriented environment.
- Openness to participating in collaborative design exercises.
- Ability and experience in balancing multiple stakeholder and community interests.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Energetic, self‑motivated and a willingness to learn.
- Security clearance is a requirement for this role.
We are steps away from many amenities and also easily accessible by bike, public transportation and car. The studio is an open concept and represents our collaborative approach to our work. We are currently working 4 days in studio.
