This is a temporary full-time position (5 days per week) as part of an approximately one-year maternity leave replacement.

The Ottawa Production Centre is seeking a Senior Designer who will primarily support French-language production services.

In this role, you will act as a design specialist, creating and producing visual elements while meeting production deadlines.

All work is carried out in accordance with recognized CBC/Radio-Canada and industry standards. Within this framework, you will benefit from professional autonomy, allowing you to exercise sound judgment, propose creative solutions, and take initiatives aligned with production needs.

You will work in a dynamic production environment with tight deadlines. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing assignments independently while ensuring alignment with editorial objectives and program priorities.

The successful candidate will also:

  • Develop and propose original visual concepts to support editorial content and maximize visual impact and audience appeal.

  • Adapt, enhance, and extend existing creative concepts, demonstrating agility in their interpretation.

  • Design, produce, and deliver both static and animated graphic elements, including short or full animation sequences.

  • Create logos, layouts, panels, pictograms, labels, and packaging for programs, print materials, and multimedia content.

  • Analyze expressed needs and provide creative recommendations to address visual challenges and achieve production objectives.

  • Experiment with and test new design approaches or methods to improve practices and outcomes.

  • Perform all or part of the duties associated with an equivalent or lower classification.

  • Depending on assignment, perform one or all of the following functions: design simple set elements and contribute to knowledge transfer and support skills development within the team.

We are seeking a candidate with the following profile:

  • University degree in graphic design or equivalent relevant training.

  • Strong understanding of television production realities and digital platforms.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in graphic design or a related field.

  • Functional bilingualism (French and English), both written and spoken.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly and precisely in writing and verbally.

  • Advanced proficiency with graphic design and animation software, including After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Animate.

  • Demonstrated experience working on projects or programs emphasizing creativity and innovation.

  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and networking.

  • Ability to identify technical issues related to graphics equipment and software and resolve minor problems.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a demanding production environment with tight deadlines.

  • Strong judgment, discretion, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team collaboration.

  • Variable schedule based on operational needs of the production centre

Assets:

  • Experience working on creative and innovation-driven projects or programs.

  • Basic knowledge of IT and networking.
