Job Description

In Canada, our Buildings + Places team drives innovation in building design, urban planning, and sustainable infrastructure across federal, public sector, institutional, and private markets.

We are currently seeking a Contract Administration, Lead to strengthen our Ottawa operations and support major architectural and engineering projects through the construction phase. This is a newly created position, established to support our continued growth and expanding project portfolio.

The Contract Administration, Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of building and infrastructure projects throughout the construction lifecycle. You will serve as AECOM’s primary representative during the construction phase, providing leadership, technical expertise, and proactive contract oversight to ensure projects meet design intent, regulatory requirements, budget parameters, and client expectations.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and fluency in construction procedures and contract law—ideal for a senior professional ready to guide complex, multidisciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Representation

  • Serve as the primary point of contact during the construction phase for clients, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, and multidisciplinary design teams.

  • Lead contract administration services across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring consistency, quality, constant communications and timely delivery.

  • Presence on site and at project office is full time or intermittent based on projects requirements.

  • Contract Administration

  • Administer CCDC and other standard form contracts, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and industry standards.

  • Manage progress payments, change orders, RFIs, contemplated change notices, and contractual correspondence with accuracy and clarity.

  • Issue Certificates of Substantial Performance and related statutory documentation in accordance with the Ontario Construction Act.

  • Technical & Site Review

  • Conduct regular site reviews; prepare detailed site reports; resolve construction challenges promptly.

  • Timely review shop drawings, schedules, mix designs, commissioning plans, and other contractor submissions.

  • Coordinate with civil, architectural, landscape, structural, mechanical, electrical, and speciality subconsultants including commissioning.

  • Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure construction adheres to contract documents, applicable codes, Lead preconstruction meetings and coordinate with testing agencies to validate material compliance and readiness.
  • Team Development

  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff, providing training in site inspection, contract interpretation, documentation, and client communication.

  • Promote AECOM’s culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

  • Project & Risk Management
