Reporting to Camp Area Supervisor – Y NDC, Camp Counsellors – Y Neighbourhood Day Camps (Y NDC) implements and facilitates the delivery of quality recreational programs, services and experiences to children and youth aged 4 to 12 enrolled in Neighbourhood Day Camp programs. The Camp Counsellor – Y NDC functions as part of a team tasked with supervising program participants as they engage in outdoor activities, discover nature and enjoy the natural environment, build self-confidence and establish lasting friendships.
Positionsare available at various locations across the city such as:
- Clarence-Rockland YMCA
- Downtown Ottawa & Taggart Family YMCA
- Neighbourhood of Barrhaven
- Neighbourhood of Stittsville
- Neighbourhood of Ottawa South or Orleans
- Implementing and facilitating the delivery of quality recreational programs and services.
- Supervising program participants as they engage in recreational activities.
- Ensuring that children and youth have a positive experience through fun and rewarding recreation and sport programs.
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of program participants.
- Performing some housekeeping responsibilities, like sanitation of equipment, cleaning program areas, etc.

Skills And Abilities
- Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution and relationship-building skills
- Ability to maintain calm demeanor in stressful situations
- Ability to act as a positive role model for campers, staff and volunteers
- Must be 16 years old by June 2026.
- Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification.
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
