Family Resource Worker - Casual Relief Position

ON Child and Family Centre, Kanata, West Carleton, and Stittsville
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Family Resource Worker – Casual Relief position is responsible for the provision of the Early
ON Child and Family Centre parent-child drop-in programming, including: early learning activities, information and referral and parent education with respect to child development and parenting. Drop-ins are delivered at various locations in Kanata, West Carleton, and Stittsville.

PRINCIPAL
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Promoting child development and encouraging parent/care provider-child interaction;
- Using the recreational resources available in the community;
- Delivering, on an on-call basis, programs and services including playgroups and activities;
- Using modeling for the parent/care provider in the relation with the child;
- Ensuring the parent/care provider understands the reason and the impact of the activities;
- Presenting activities in a dynamic and stimulating fashion for the child, in collaboration with the parent/care provider;
- Ensuring integration and adaptation of children and parent/care providers.
- Providing information and referral to parent/care providers;
- Providing education services for parent/care providers through workshops and other training opportunities;
- Supporting parents/care providers in identifying their needs;
- Assisting parent/care providers to identify their strengths and limitations to help improve their child’s and their own quality of life;
- Linking and referring care providers to other programs offered by WOCRC and other community organizations.
- Deliver, on an on-call basis, early learning programs and services throughout our communities, including rural locations, in local schools and in the Early
ON CFC; - Providing support and training to volunteers as required;
- Creating a sense of program ownership and engagement with parent/care providers as well as with partnering organizations;
- Deliver programs and services that are aligned with community needs, trends and gaps based on client feedback and data such as Child Status Index, Early Development Instrument and Census data as well as in consultation with partnering organizations;
- Performing program evaluation in collaboration with participants, volunteers and partners;
- Maintaining and developing professional competence and quality assurance through appropriate continuing education methods, to support both family resource worker and community development role and responsibilities;
- Recording data on the delivery of services (e.g. attendance sheets and membership forms).
