What do you offer?

The YMCA of the National Capital Region’s Camp Otonabee provides an opportunity for children and youth to engage in outdoor activities, discover nature and enjoy the natural environment, build self-confidence and establish lasting friendships. Campers aged 4 to 16 can experience canoeing, rock climbing, kayaking, swimming, and more.

The Kitchen Staff will function as a team member responsible for overseeing the function of the kitchen, ensuring that meals are delivered to campers and staff in a timely fashion. The Kitchen Staff must be courteous and professional in dealing with campers, staff and the general public, exemplifying YMCA values and maintaining a high standard of work ethic.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Preparing meals for campers and staff.
  • Ensuring meals are delivered to campers and staff in a timely fashion.
  • Keeping up-to-date inventory of food and supplies.
  • Communicating inventory needs with supervisor and assisting in ordering food and supplies.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Language

  • Ability to work in English
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Experience,

Skills and Abilities

  • Safe Food Handling & WHMIS certifications are considered assets
  • Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to maintain calm demeanor in stressful situations
  • Ability to act as a positive role model for campers, staff and volunteers

Additional Requirements

  • Applicants must be 16 years old by June 2026.
  • Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification.
  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis…
