Job Description

The Senior Buyer position is responsible for the procurement of goods and services and is accountable for the Broader Public Sector Competitive Bid process, from inception to finalization for small to medium Request for Proposals for the College. The incumbent coordinates and negotiates contracts for goods and services, negotiates daily with suppliers and college staff with considerable tact, diplomacy and persuasion, and guides the maintenance of college policies and procedures.

The incumbent serves as a front‑line technical resource on the financial software and bidding system, providing guidance and training to staff as required. The incumbent coordinates with the Associate Director, Strategic Procurement to continuously evaluate, develop and update procurement policies and procedures to adhere to provincial standards.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum three (3) year diploma/degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or Procurement; an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
  • Purchasing certification from Supply Chain Canada or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with e‑procurement, purchasing, shipping and receiving, asset management, and financial software modules in purchasing, shipping and accounting. Familiarity with contract law, taxation guidelines and provincial procurement directives, negotiating and client services.
