Title: Lead, Business Support Specialist – Government Relations

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of business management practices, processes and tools to support continuous improvement and operational efficacy.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeted process.
  • Act as a liaison between different departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective collaboration and information sharing.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the business support functions.
  • Lead development of internal and external reports that communicate progress, results, and impact.
  • Develop and use performance dashboards, summary reports, and other tracking tools to inform leadership and improve delivery outcomes.
  • Develop, apply, and improve standardized tools, templates, and processes to support effective planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and contribute to enterprise‑wide planning or process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that portfolio reporting meets internal standards and external accountability requirements.
  • Coordinate and maintain strong working relationships across internal departments, operational teams, to ensure effective delivery.
  • Will also assist in planning and execution of leadership forums aligned to the mandate of the Chief of Policy & Strategic Relations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8–12 years of experience and a university degree in business administration, public administration, social sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expertise in a specialized discipline or broad experience across fields, with an understanding of interconnections between processes and business units to provide effective leadership.
  • Proven experience in budget management, financial planning, and resource allocation.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite) and knowledge of project management tools, data analytics platforms, and financial management software.
  • Strong knowledge of program and project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in business process improvement, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Communication and influencing skills to synthesize diverse and sometimes conflicting perspectives and find mutually beneficial solutions, often in sensitive or complex situations.
  • Fluency in French is a strong asset.
Working Conditions
  • The work pace is often unpredictable with significant time pressures.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent and often urgent changes in priorities, and make decisions under pressure.
  • The majority of work will be conducted from an office‑like setting.
  • Some domestic travel to generally safe locations may be required.
  • Work requires the ability to work to multiple, conflicting deadlines.
  • As we work with and support people and communities, applicants whose first language is not English may be required to perform the responsibilities of the role in English.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada is required.
  • If selected, you will be required to complete a successful pre‑employment screening process which includes a satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check (E‑PIC).
