Summary

The Repair Estimator, Service primary responsibilities are to respond to major repair service requirements in supporting the Total Power Service Contract base and rentals division. This Sales & Advisory position will entail providing customers with major repair estimates that are generated by the Total Power Service Department. The repair estimates are generated by visiting customer sites in need of repair. Recording the required factors needed to provide an accurate and fair repair estimate, quick quote follow‑up and processing of approved quotes are required.

Responsibilities
  • Manage major repairs sales to achieve gross margins and sales revenue that exceed forecasts.
  • Provide timely and accurate estimating and quotations.
  • Assist with smooth and accurate project administration.
  • Regularly populate the company’s business tracking tools accurately.
  • Develop and maintain a customer and prospect list.
  • Provide budgets and forecasts as requested.
  • Follow up on quotations and track success rates.
  • Work with sub‑contractors to provide repair total estimation information to customers where required.
  • Coordinate repair parts pricing and availability with the Total Power Parts Department.
  • Identify new service contract opportunities and work with the New Contracts Advisor to provide service contract proposals.
  • Follow up on all quotations to gain customer approval and achieve annual sales targets.
  • Meet and exceed major repair sales targets.
  • Open major repair work orders where required.
  • Follow up on all submitted major repair quotes within 48 hours.
  • Provide purchase orders to sub‑contractors.
  • Work with technicians on unit down service calls to inform customers of status, costs and time frame.
  • Participate as part of a team striving to provide the best customer service in the industry.
  • Work with others in the Service and Service Sales department to ensure the right service is supplied and necessary information is provided to technicians and customers.
  • Ensure team collaboration and communication focus on the customer (external and internal).
  • Assist the company in developing stronger customer and supplier relationships.
  • Provide new revenue‑growth ideas that customers would value.
  • Participate in weekly Service Sales Department meetings to discuss opportunities and issues.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.
Service Product Responsibilities
  • All major repair estimates.
  • Engine replacement or major work (non‑home standby).
  • Diesel fuel system and injector work (replacement, rebuild, and injector cleaning).
  • Radiator replacement or re‑core (rad cleaning by third party = minor repair).
  • Alternator repair rebuild or replacement (include brand name advice).
  • Major enclosure repairs or modifications (e.g., handles, locks, loose panels).
  • Control system upgrades, replacements or wiring changes (except G&H panels).
  • Remote monitoring.
  • Unit downs or requiring an immediate quote while working on site.
  • Repairs requiring rental units (minor repairs at health‑care facilities).
  • Sub‑trade involvement (e.g., electricians, cranes, rebuild shops).
  • Exhaust systems & turbos from engine to muffler, including new insulation (OEM parts up to flex = minor).
  • Gearbox repairs and change‑outs, gear oil changes and cleaning = minor.
  • Major refurbishments that require subcontractors, site visits or large system reconfigurations.
  • Home standby generators excluded from major repair category.
Requirements
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Maintain a well‑organized and clean work area.
  • Mechanical aptitude and/or knowledge of combustion engines is an asset.
  • Follow all Company Health and Safety Policies, Guidelines and Privacy Policies.
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
  • Good organizational, time‑management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong problem‑identification and resolution skills.
  • Availability for work in the event of a power outage, declared State of Emergency or similar.
