Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the School of Social Work and working with minimal supervision, the School Administrator is responsible for the efficient administrative operation of the School.

The School Administrator carries responsibility for financial administration, staff supervision, timetable preparation, academic calendar changes, student admissions and registration, advertising and creating contract instructor contracts, administratively supporting the Director, as well as looking after physical space allocations, equipment purchasing and maintenance, health and safety concerns, organizing events, and coordinating communication efforts within the School.

The School Administrator acts in an advisory capacity to the Director on departmental administrative matters and ensures the sound financial coordination of the School’s operating budgets and grant accounts belonging to the School. The School Administrator also participates in administrative meetings and initiatives within the Faculty and the University.

Qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of administrative and academic administrative policies and procedures, along with demonstrated experience in providing solutions to operational challenges faced by the unit head, faculty, students and staff;
  • Strong knowledge of the processes involved in planning, developing and building the academic timetables and approved teaching assignments;
  • Familiarity with the processes involved to support unionized hiring for contract instructors, teaching and research assistants and administrative support staff with solid working knowledge of the multiple and relevant collective agreements and articles;
