POSITION SUMMARY:
To plan and conduct instructional programs designed primarily to prepare and train youths for gainful employment or entrepreneurship in agricultural careers following high school; to perform ancillary functions in support of these instructional programs in agriculture; to assist in other school activities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Demonstrated ability to use the four essential teaching behaviors of assessment, evaluation, planning, and instruction to deliver quality programs for all students.
* Strong competency in woods, metals & small engines.
* Knowledge and experience using technology in the delivery of curriculum and instruction.
* Maintains an environment which is conducive to learning with particular attention to safety practices, good housekeeping, appropriate instructional aids, textbooks, supplies and equipment, and student behavior.
* Serves as resource person and executive secretary to the district advisory committee for agricultural education.
* Willingness to assist with one or more of a variety of extra-curricular activities.
* Kindle excitement about learning, encouraging flexible and critical thinking and development of communication skills.
* Assess the needs of the students and provide a suitable learning environment to meet their needs.
* Follow the adopted curricula, attending staff meetings and other professional meetings as may be assigned by the principal.
* Maintain order in the classroom and ensure a caring, safe learning environment, with clear routines and procedures designed to minimize disruption and maximize students on task.
* Maintain safe and healthful conditions in the classroom and report promptly to the principal any serious accident or illness affecting students.
* Evaluate each pupil's educational growth and development and make periodic reports to parents or guardians as well as to the designated school administrator.
* Continue to improve classroom methods and techniques by attending workshops, summer school, professional meetings or conferences, and keep abreast of current educational innovations through professional development.
* Work cooperatively with a building team in planning, supporting and providing instruction, and share with other staff the responsibility for supervision of activities and student behavior outside the regular
* Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students, parents and district staff, maintaining ongoing and open communication.
* Encourage and provide the structure for ongoing, meaningful involvement of parents and community members in the classroom.
* Possess knowledge of and adhere to Governing Policies and District Regulations and
* Participate in special projects as assigned and perform related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
* Plan, prepare and provide an instructional program, including the preparation of lesson plans as necessary so that the instructional program is uninterrupted in the event of the teacher's absence.
* Participate in year-round FFA student/advisor activities out of the the school day. Extended contract included.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
* Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
* Ability to focus (adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.
* Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or Doctorate from an accredited university or college.
EXPERIENCE:
* Appropriate academic background and coursework for the position.
* Successful teaching experience and effective work with high school age students, preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
* Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements.
* Valid Career and Technical Education Certificate in Agriculture Education preferred
* Must maintain as current any certification or license listed herein and held at hire date.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING:
That which is required to be effective in the position and to maintain certification
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Starting Date: School Year (182 total contracted days + 40 extra days)
Salary: $63,612 - $122,620 annual salary. Based on education and experience Per OEA CBA - Salary Schedule
Retirement:
Pension through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems
