Position

Summary

The Kidstop Lead Instructor plays a critical role in creating a positive and supportive environment for children, youth, families, and staff. This position is responsible for on-site leadership, mentorship, and coordination of daily activities and programming to ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive experience for all participants.

Schedule & Hours
  • School Year: 8-hour split shift (Monday-Friday) – 6:15 AM – 10:15 AM and 2:15 PM – 6:15 PM
  • Non‑School Days & Summer: 40-hour a week, straight shift hours that will vary (8 hours/day, Monday-Friday)
Key Responsibilities
  • Communicates with families, youth, and school district staff in an accurate, friendly, and timely manner through multiple methods.
  • Informs stakeholders about program updates and deadlines to ensure seamless participation.
  • Coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure a quality program.
  • Builds respectful relationships with youth, families, community partners, and district staff.
  • Supports all out-of-school time activities, families, and staff (YE instructors, building supervisors, etc.) on-site to ensure a safe, secure, welcoming, and supportive environment.
  • Greets and engages with families and youth daily.
  • Works with and supports all youth in the program.
  • Communicates and documents accidents or incidents concerning youth or staff to appropriate supervisors or families.
  • Maintains confidentiality and privacy of youth and families.
  • Implements district, building/school, and program policies and procedures.
  • Creates and maintains a safe and welcoming environment that supports and serves the needs of youth and families.
  • Appreciates and supports the development of individual attributes in the youth served in the program.
  • Ensures safety of all participants and serves as the incident commander; conducts regular drills with staff and students.
  • Provides overall daily direction of the program and work direction for other staff.
  • Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of program space and adjusts physical changes as needed.
  • Collaborates to organize and support field trips; reviews plans, assists with group assignments, and ensures all preparations are completed for a smooth experience.
  • Attends all required Lead Instructor meetings and other meetings as needed; facilitates meetings and accommodates schedule adjustments as required.
  • Provides positive and corrective feedback and alternatives as needed.
  • Assesses and utilizes team members' expertise to optimize outcomes.
  • Plans and implements age‑appropriate, fun, enriching, and hands‑on experiences for youth on a regular basis.
  • Facilitates and organizes enriching opportunities across age groups, abilities, and identities.
  • Supports the social, physical, emotional, and cognitive development of each youth.
  • Serves as a community education liaison at building and district levels.
  • Develops and supports enrichment opportunities for youth including Youth Enrichment.
  • Advocates and supports overall program quality improvement goals, procedures, guidelines, and state statutes (DHS Certification or others).
  • Participates in activities with youth and leads small or large group activities.
  • Provides accommodations to programming to meet the needs of all youth, including those identified with special needs.
  • Demonstrates dedication to creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all families, scholars, and staff regardless of abilities, ethnicities, genders, and religious beliefs.
