Registered Nurse - Cardiac Rehabilitation

Mahaska Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Cardiac Rehabilitation program. The primary responsibility of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Registered Nurse is to deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, coordinating patient education, and liaising with interdisciplinary personnel while maintaining the professional standards of Mahaska Health.

Hours
:
Full‑time – 8:00 am to 4:30 pm;
Part‑time – flexible working days; PRN – as needed.

• Provides skilled nursing care to assigned patients.
• Assesses and documents physical, psychological, spiritual, and social dimensions on admission.
• Establishes treatment priorities based on medical and nursing diagnoses.
• Initiates, implements, and modifies an interdisciplinary plan of care individualized to each patient’s needs, including family.
• Utilizes all available resources in planning care and consults as necessary with physicians, supervisors, and interdisciplinary services.
• Provides ongoing reassessment and documentation of patient status.
• Perceives patient problems through assessment skills and implements appropriate action.
• Documents nursing interventions and patient responses.
• Prepares, administers, and documents medications and IV therapy safely.
• Assesses for and provides patient and family education at their level of understanding regarding the disease process and treatment plan.
• Organizes workload effectively to accomplish care in a timely manner.
• Uses approved documentation methods of Mahaska Health.
• Accurately transcribes and communicates oral and written provider orders.
• Communicates pertinent information regarding patient status to appropriate interdisciplinary team members promptly.
• Performs Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation services such as stress tests, pharmacological stress echo testing, outpatient adenosine cardioversions, cardiac stress echo tests, Holter monitors, event monitors, and supports smoking cessation and staff education and development.
• Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established standards.
• Assesses possible discharge needs at admission, throughout hospitalization, and finalizes discharge planning with input from the interdisciplinary team, the patient, family, and other available resources.

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa (or able to work in Iowa).
• Minimum one year of previous cardiac rehabilitation experience.
• Knowledge of ABGs, pulse oximetry, and oxygen administration.
• Ability to manage problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to change and learn when necessary for efficient department/clinic operations.
