As a General Merchandise Expert, you will be responsible for ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. You will lead inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store.
The role of a General Merchandise Expert can provide you with the knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest first culture across the store. You will execute daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals.
A typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks.
- Engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs.
- Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
- Execute daily tasks assigned to you by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities.
- Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures, if certified.
- Execute processes including changing prices to products, merchandise set-up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader.
- Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
- Be knowledgeable about the resources, products, and services available in the total store to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training.
To be successful in this role, you should have a welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members. You should be able to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed. You should be able to work both independently and with a team, resolve guest questions quickly on the spot, and have attention to detail and follow a multi-step process.
