You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

About the RoleYou will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and the Center Physician for medical issues. The Specialist is familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment, follows guidance provided by Bio Life Medical Affairs, and provides center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility; conduct informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and respond according to SOPs for medical emergencies, including implementation of the Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance on medical/technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
