Introduction

Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is recruiting for a Physician. WMHI, located near Oshkosh, Wisconsin, is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Position Summary

As the Physician, you will be a member of the WMHI medical staff who provide complete medical coverage to new and current patients.

Responsibilities
  • Providing initial medical evaluation of all newly admitted patients.
  • Assisting with medical clearance for new admissions.
  • Being on call for the medical clinic and medical admissions providers at WMHI evenings and weekends, which includes giving medical advice over the phone to WMHI providers and discussing difficult cases with emergency room providers at external facilities.
  • Reviewing medical information and providing recommendations on patient appropriateness.
Salary Information

The starting pay is between $106.00 and $115.60 per hour (approximately $220,400 and $240,400 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Qualified individuals may earn supplemental pay up to $21.00 per hour for Board Certification or $7.00 per hour for Board Certification Eligibility. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.

This position is in pay schedule and range 10/51.

Job Details

All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB screen, which will be administered by WMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date. DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I‑9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Licensed or eligibility to obtain license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin. Please refer to the WI Department of Safety and Professional Services website for more information on licensing. Eligibility means you are licensed in another state or have applied and are in the process of obtaining a license in the State of Wisconsin. Licensure must be obtained by time of appointment.
  • Possess Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Registration.
  • Board Certification and completion of residency in internal medicine or family practice. You are required to provide a copy of your certification with your application.
  • Experience working with patients who have chronic medical conditions.
