Position: (FULL -TIME PERMANENT) BEHAVIOUR ANALYST GERIATRIC OUTREACH
Location: Whitby

Overview  Ontario Shores requires a Behavioural Analyst to work with The Geriatric Long Term Care (LTC) Outreach Service. You will support the needs of clients 65 years of age and older with a psychiatric concern that is either treatment resistant or complex in nature presenting with one or more of the following: cognitive changes, behavioural changes, mood changes, anxiety or psychotic symptoms.

You will function as an expert clinician in the specialized field of geriatric mental health providing clinical consultation to LTC home care clinicians within the catchment area of Ontario Shores. Using a bio-psychosocial approach and encompassing the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), the Behaviour Analyst will collaborate with the various disciplines involved in the care of the client in the development of integrated formulations and care interventions in accordance with evidence-based practice approaches.

Responsibilities

Provide feedback and education to behavior therapists, primary care team, patient and family, as indicated, concerning behaviour assessments, and behaviour intervention plans;

Provide direct care and one on one and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements

Maintain appropriate records and schedule follow-up as needed, and maintain patient confidentiality

Provide technical supervision to behaviour therapist(s) as set forth by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario

The Behaviour Analyst will be responsible to recognize and report patient, staff, and environment safety issues, identify and implement preventative and corrective actions, within the scope of this role.

Qualifications

Registered in good standing with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario

Active BCBA or BCBA-D Certification in Good Standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)

Vulnerable Sector Check

Board Certified Behaviour Analyst in good standing with the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board required.

Ability to train others in ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis)

Thorough knowledge of behavioral programming involving data collection, data tracking, graphing, and summarizing

Minimum of 5 years’ experience supporting geriatric patients in a mental health inpatient or outpatient setting required.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community mental health preferred.

Gentle Persuasive Approach Certificate is required and must be completed within 6 months or hire if not previously done.

PIECES certification is preferred

Completion of Ontario Shores microcredentials preferred

Demonstrated knowledge, education and skills in Senior Mental Health required.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in de-escalation and supportive counseling.

Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.

Proven ability in problem solving and conflict resolution.

Knowledge of and ability to access community resources.

Proven ability to work collaboratively with individuals as well as independently.

Demonstrated commitment to continual learning.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrated competence in, clinical assessment, intervention and documentation of care

Current driver’s licence is required

The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is considered an asset

Current CPR-HCP and first aid

Ability to effectively deliver constructive feedback to colleagues regarding programming

Ability to train staff to fluency on various protocols and behavioral skills training

Effective time management skills and skills ability to manage multiple tasks at one time

Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by College of Psychologist and Behavioral Analysts of Ontario and the Behavioral Analyst Certification Board

Familiarity with the Mental Health Act.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Effective organizational and analytical skills.

Proven interest in self-development and in the facilitation of development of others.
