JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Design and Project Engineering team in the role of Design Engineer located in Bowmanville, Ontario..
Reporting to the Manager Design Engineering, this position will be responsible for coordinating and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to understand design inputs and requirements, schedules, finances, and performance for the assigned projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Follow OPG Engineering Change Control process to prepare Design Change Packages such as Modifications, Temporary Modifications and Non-Identical Component Replacements; IEE (item Equivalency Evaluation, Procurement Engineering Evaluations, MEL (Master Equipment List), Lead or support conceptual, preliminary and detail design phases for Design Change Packages;
Provide support to field installation, commissioning and available for service-related activities, Co-ordination with different internal and external working group to have a successful completion of Design and PE (procurement engineering task)Prepare design reports, engineering specifications, engineering calculations, technical evaluations, advice, and direction, solve problems and coordinate technical work as required, in several major work areas, in support of the commissioning, operation and maintenance of the facilities.Maintain and/or update operating and other specified department/divisional procedures. Receive assignments relating to procedures from the Supervisor or identify potential problems and opportunities. Prepare new or revised procedures consistent with operating licenses, policies, principles, department standard practices, standing instructions, maximum safety of operation, minimal risk of damage or loss, optimum frequency of routines, efficient operation, and the like. Submit for review and approval.Interface with external Design vendor partners.Plan, coordinate and conduct engineering assessments, studies, inspections, investigations, designs, and evaluations systems.Perform field inspections, acceptance, and approvals.Maintain written processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems;
Maintain process compliance during project execution. Support engineering acceptance of modification turnovers.Provide Engineering Change Control guidance, provide active support to field issues and Field Initiated Changes, and facilitate a positive outcome with EPC vendors.Understand impacts on cost and schedule and provide support to minimize impacts driving projects.Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and government agencies as required.Respond to emergencies, equipment failure, unsatisfactory equipment performance, conduct field investigations, prepare reports, and recommend actions.QUALIFICATIONS
4 Year University Degree in Engineering – Mechanical or NuclearMinimum of 5 years of related working experienceDesign experience required, preferably within the Nuclear IndustryExperience with ASME Section Ill and piping design are preferred.Knowledge of OPG's ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) is an asset.Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with technical writing and presentation experience.Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision.Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of OntarioThe successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.
