LTO - Itinerant Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing K-12The LTO position may end earlier than the expected end date or possible extended.
Who We AreThe Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPR) offers a world‑class education for approximately 35,000 students in 87 schools. Spanning over 7,000 square kilometers, across diverse rural and urban communities in southeastern Ontario. KPR serves the Municipality of Clarington, Northumberland and Peterborough Counties, and City of Quinte West/Murray Ward.

Hours of Work: Core hours are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Work outside these hours may be required occasionally to meet program requirements.
Prep time: Prep time is embedded within the regular hours of work for this position.
Work Location: Primary work location is Kirby, with frequent travel between schools.

Rate of Pay: The salary grid rate for this position is based on QECO rating ('A' rating) and experience. Salary is prorated based on FTE and length of assignment. Long‑Term Occasional (LTO) assignments are paid according to the Salary Grids found within the applicable under Appendix A (pages 78‑79). The current grid rate is effective September 1 2025.

This position reports to the Principal, Special Education, and assists in supporting teachers, principals and students with establishing and maintaining special education supports, services and practices for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Minimum Qualifications Required- OCT Certified
- Specialist Qualifications in Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Special Education Additional Qualification, Part 1
- Valid G‑level Driver’s License and use of vehicle
- Preference is given to people who have certification or are eligible for certification through the Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH)
- In Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers or;
Good Standing with Terms, Conditions or Limitations (Transitional Certificate). - A police record check, with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database Search dated within 6 months prior to the date of hire, is a requirement for employment.

- Language and literacy development
- Oral communication
- American Sign Language (ASL)
- Audiology
- Listening and speaking
- Hearing technologies
- Experience in developing and implementing programs for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- A broad knowledge base in program planning, implementation and assessment
- Experience in development and implement programs for a range of students with special needs including Developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Behaviour Exceptionalities.
- Evidence of commitment to inclusionary practices and demonstration of ability to embed the Board’s character Attributes and Equity and Diversity philosophies into daily practice
- Understanding of the Ontario Curriculum
- Demonstrated ability to participate effectively as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team
- Strong interpersonal, problem‑solving and communication skills
