Job Summary

Provides functional direction to members of the perioperative team (OR, Admission & Discharge, Endoscopy and PACU) to achieve optimal patient outcomes while maximizing available resources including surgical case management and perioperative patient care coordination.

Qualifications
  • Current WI RN license
  • Certified in BSL, ACLS, PALS (or within 90 days of start)
  • Knowledge in OR, Endoscopy and Preop- PACU standards and practices
  • Previous charge or supervisory experience
Preferred
  • 2 years of Perioperative Experience
  • AORN, CPAN, or ASPAN Certified
  • Epic EMR experience
Responsibilities

The Charge Nurse will work closely with the manager of the department to ensure that policies, procedures, resources and equipment needed are put in place, be able to support team with troubleshooting day-to-day issues, coordinate daily assignments for all staff, assist in orientation, feedback, and process improvement efforts. Occasionally, function as RN providing direct care.

  • Promote and support a positive and collaborative team approach
  • Anticipate department needs in terms of cases and staffing
  • Ability to support other hospital departments and assist in helping meet their needs
Physical Requirements for the Role
  • Physically demanding, some days may be high-stress
  • Occasional exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
  • Hand and eye coordination
  • Sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
  • Frequently walking, sometime sitting at desk working on computer
  • Busy and often noisy environment
  • Walking/ rounding in all areas: admit/ Discharge, Ors, Procedure Room, PACU and Central Sterile Room
  • Aware of confidentiality when in conversation, as the department has patients and families close.
