Job Description
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs. It is also responsible for developing new processes, make‑ready techniques, and machine modifications to improve the manufacturing processes and procedures. The role is accountable for facilitating a safe work environment, requiring that safe practices are designed into all processes and procedures. It involves the development of written training curriculum, operating procedures, ongoing observation and assessment of skilled staff, and conducting hands‑on and classroom training sessions for employees.
The role also coordinates new materials testing and issues suggestions based on results/findings. The position will maintain and support our entire fleet of Bobst Hot Stamp and Die Cutting equipment.
- Assists with daily problem resolution and procedural improvements.
- Works closely with Engineering and machine specialists to test and/or investigate methods, materials, and equipment for the primary purpose of reducing scrap, operating costs, and increasing productivity.
- Determines needs for, recommends, and when appropriate, instructs and facilitates the training, testing, and skill upgrades for machine specialists.
- Represents American Greetings in meetings with other facilities, plant personnel, vendors, and suppliers on technical and production related issues.
- Works closely with coordinators to implement good safety and housekeeping practices.
- Maintains inventory of critical parts and materials necessary for the production area.
- Recommends product, material, and equipment specifications.
- Leads and/or participates in team meetings and assignments relating to continuous improvement.
- Fills in for coordinator on all three shifts on an as‑needed basis.
- 3–5 years Machine Specialist experience will benefit the candidate by teaching processes, make‑ready, and operational skills. This will aid in becoming proficient in problem resolution and equipment troubleshooting. This requirement may be relaxed if combined with previous technical training/experience.
- Mechanical proficiency.
- Proficient in basic math and analytical skills.
- Good communication (verbal and written) and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in operation and support of Bobst High Speed Hot Stamping and Die Cutting equipment.
- Minimum – High School.
- Preferred – Vocational/Technical training school, Military Technical Specialist training, or Industrial Technology background.
