Position Overview

Osceola School District seeks a visionary, strategic, and service-oriented Director of Technology to lead the planning, implementation, security, and continuous improvement of district wide technology systems. The Director of Technology will ensure that instructional and operational technologies are innovative, reliable, secure, and aligned with the district's strategic goals.

This leader will oversee infrastructure, cybersecurity, instructional technology integration, data systems, and technology support services while fostering a culture of innovation and customer service. The ideal candidate is both a systems thinker and a collaborative leader who understands that technology is a catalyst for student achievement, operational excellence, and equitable access.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Vision
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive district technology plan aligned to the district's strategic goals.
    • Advise the Superintendent and Cabinet on emerging technologies, cybersecurity risks, digital learning trends, and infrastructure needs.
    • Lead long‑range planning for hardware lifecycle replacement, software systems, and network capacity.
    • Ensure equitable access to devices, connectivity, and digital resources for all students and staff.
  • Infrastructure & Systems Management
    • Oversee all district technology infrastructure including networks, servers, cloud systems, data centers, telecommunications, and end‑user devices.
    • Ensure high system availability, performance, and scalability across all campuses and facilities.
    • Manage enterprise systems including SIS, I-MS, ERP/finance systems, HR systems, and other critical platforms.
    • Establish and monitor technology performance metrics and service‑level expectations.
  • Cybersecurity & Data Governance
    • Lead district cybersecurity efforts, including risk assessments, threat mitigation, disaster recovery, and incident response planning.
    • Ensure compliance with FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, HIPAA (as applicable), and other relevant federal and state regulations.
    • Develop and enforce data governance standards and best practices.
    • Provide regular cybersecurity awareness training for staff.
  • Instructional Technology & Digital Learning
    • Collaborate with curriculum and instructional leaders to support effective integration of technology into teaching and learning.
    • Oversee selection and implementation of instructional software and digital resources.
    • Support professional development initiatives that build digital capacity among educators.
    • Promote innovative instructional practices that enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Budget & Resource Management
    • Develop and manage the technology department budget.
    • Identify and pursue grant opportunities and E‑Rate funding.
    • Oversee procurement processes and vendor contracts; ensure fiscal responsibility and cost‑effective solutions.
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Supervise and evaluate technology department staff.
    • Establish a high‑performing, service‑oriented team culture.
    • Develop clear helpdesk processes and customer service standards.
    • Promote cross‑department collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Communicate technology initiatives and updates to staff, families, and the Board of Education.
    • Serve as the district liaison for technology‑related partnerships.
    • Provide clear reporting on system performance, cybersecurity posture, and technology initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Required Education & Experience
    • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible technology leadership experience.
    • Demonstrated experience managing complex network infrastructure and enterprise systems.
    • Experience leading teams and managing departmental budgets.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree in Technology Leadership, Educational Leadership, or related field.
    • Experience in K‑12 education or public sector technology leadership.
