Overview

OVERVIEW:
This salaried position reports directly to the Director of FP&A. Responsibilities include the financial accounting for East Side Jersey Dairy Orrville incorporated into Prairie Farms. This position works with all functional areas of the company by providing technical accounting guidance and support. The Staff Accountant assists with the preparation of month-end financial reports, all account reconciliations, accounting policies, financial audits and aids in maintaining financial controls.

Excellent communication and a strong technical accounting background are required skills for this position.

Areas of Responsibility and Expectations Financial Accounting
  • Highly involved inthemonth-end,quarter-endandyear-endfinancialstatementclosing processes.

    Work withteamstodevelop and maintain checklists,process documentation. Timelinesandcontrolstoensure smoothanderrorfreeclosingofthefinancialbooksand records
  • Perform regular balance sheet and account reconciliations
  • Help in developing accounting policies
  • Update monthly reporting package information
  • Maintain Asset tracker to record proper capitalization and depreciation per Capital Expenditure and Fixed Asset Policy
  • Fileany taxreturnsnotfiledby

    Corporate office
Treasury Management
  • Back up the day-to-day banking duties
  • Reconcile all bank accounts
Financial Analysis
  • Workwith Accounting and Financestafftoreviewthefinancialstatementseachmonthduring  themonth-endcloseprocesstoensureaccurateandtimelyfinancialreporting
  • Review financial statement trending, account reconciliations and other related financial indicators
  • Provideregularanalysistothebusinesstoconfirmaccurateaccountingtransactions
Other
  • Provide project support as needed to others requiring accounting expertise/participation
  • Other duties as assigned
Reporting and Working Relationships
  • Reports directly to Director of FP&A
  • Workscloselywith Finance,IT,Administrative Support
  • Providessupporttoallfunctionalgroups(e.g.:

    Production,Supply Chain,Salesand Marketing)
Competencies Required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and business intelligence reporting tools is a plus
  • Excellentcommunicationandorganizationalskills,includingwrittenandoralpresentationskills
  • Must possess excellent time management skills
  • Must demonstrate excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of intercompany accounting
  • Project Management
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • At ease in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Five years of accounting experience required with audit experience a plus
DAYS & HOURS / EXPECTED WORK SCHEDULE
  • Monday - Friday, up to at least fourth-five hours per week
  • Additional days and hours (holidays, weekends) as required
