Position Summary
As a member of the healthcare team, serves as a physician providing primary care services at FRTH clinics in accordance with approved standardized procedures and protocols under the guidelines established by the licensure and standards of care of the specialty provider. Individual provides comprehensive medical services for appropriate patients. Performs diagnostic services which include securing medical histories, conducting physical examinations, interpreting laboratory and x-ray results in order to define health problems and determine therapy required.
EssentialFunctions
- Provides primary health care under standardized protocols in accordance with provisions of the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.
- Provides the highest quality of care utilizing the resources of the organization in the most prudent manner.
- Assists the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer in developing level of care standards to be used as a quality of service measurement and that will enable the organization to meet external accrediting requirements (e.g. JCAHO or AAAHC).
- Cooperates and helps establish and maintain understanding and cooperation with local organizations toward effective community health.
- Serves as a physician by performing duties which may include examining patients for symptoms or physical information including eliciting and recording information about patient’s medical history; ordering or executing various tests, analyses diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition.
- Analyzes reports and findings of test and examinations and diagnoses conditions.
- Administers or prescribes treatments and medication for patients.
- Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable disease.
- Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
- Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs or eligibility for insurance coverage.
- Reports births, deaths and outbreaks of contagious diseases to governmental authorities.
- Initiate and maintain Problem Oriented Medical Records (“S.O.A.P.” format) using dictated patient summaries, provider templates, and/or electronic health records.
- Serve on various clinic committees and/or special work groups as agreed upon with the Medical Director.
- Meet regularly with other clinic providers to review patient care and participate in Quality and Performance Improvement activities.
- Use prudent judgment when emergencies require action beyond established protocols; notify Medical Director immediately.
- Demonstrate dependability by being punctual and maintain consistent attendance.
- Maintain good working relations among all staff through appropriate communication.
- At the time of hire, each employee will meet with their supervisor to set measurable goals and objectives that are a requirement for the position. These measurables will be monitored by the supervisor and reviewed during the introductory period. They will also be utilized in the annual performance evaluation. The measurables may change from year to year. The supervisor is responsible to notify the employee of any new measurables at the time of the performance review.
Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment and screening of potential medical personnel and specialty services personnel, as requested.
- Work with organization in development and provision of health education for staff and patients.
- Participate in continuing education in order to provide the highest quality of care to the patient population and to maintain a current and active license to practice medicine.
- Participate in special studies and surveys regarding pertinent health problems of patient population.
- Attend all trainings, meetings and conferences as required.
- Participate in special agency programs and university programs to act as preceptor for interns, etc. as required.
- Learn and implement electronic health records functions as they continue to evolve.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
