This position will be primarily focused on public safety, along with their integration in the broader enterprise.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to use your technical and soft skills to support the Town’s public safety operations. This position will interact regularly with customer departments, external agencies and contractors in conveying technical information. The Ideal candidate for this position must be able to communicate courteously and effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Under general supervision, provides technical support of software, hardware, operating systems, mobile devices, and other common office user devices and/or peripherals.

  • Provides technical support to staff, including installing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining computer hardware and software.
  • Builds, installs and maintains computers and operating systems.
REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to analyze IT problems and to arrive at workable solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of certain telecom hardware, such as phones, fax machines, intercoms, and conference systems.
  • Knowledge of the basics of e-mail systems.
  • Knowledge of Town and Department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory Users and Computers in an enterprise environment.
  • Skill in analyzing computer systems to identify problems, developing logical conclusions and effective system or program solutions.
  • Skill in hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance of desktop computers, laptop computers, and associated common office peripherals (monitors, USB devices, printers, etc).
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft software, with an emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Skill working with current Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in analyzing computer systems to identify problems, developing logical conclusions and effective system or program solutions.
  • Two (2) years’ experience with hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance of desktop and portable computers.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with current Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in support of current Microsoft Office applications.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Individual must be judged acceptable based on Arizona Criminal Justice Information System background check and a screening by the Oro Valley Police Department.
