Electrical Engineer Intern

The Electrical Engineering Intern supports the Engineering Department in its execution of electrical engineering activities in a timely manner and supplements the Electrical Engineering role by developing designs, plans, and reports, designing electrical interface test criteria and equipment, and contributing to the development of electrical equipment for aerospace applications.

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Electrical Engineering support role for the following:
  • Design and research of power supplies, EMI/EMC, Analog, and digital circuits
  • Design and analysis tasks for electrical applications
  • Topology and part selection support
  • Control Circuits support
  • Create detailed electrical and functional block diagrams based on inputs
  • Create electrical schematics using capture software
  • Develop and maintain company and customer required documentation
  • Developing electrical engineering reports, analyses, support drafting test equipment drawings
  • On the job learning of Electrical Engineering principles and site Processes
  • Employ knowledge and skills learned from school in day-to-day work
  • Regular contact with Electrical Engineers, Laboratory Technicians, Mechanical and Systems Engineers, and Quality Assurance team members at the site facility
  • Develop positive and professional working relationships to accomplish tasks
  • Accountable to generate accurate documentation at the direction of Electrical Engineers, Airworthiness Personnel, Laboratory Technicians
  • Accountable to maintain a perspective of constant learning
  • Accountable to keep track of assignments and prioritize tasks at the discretion of the Engineering Manager
  • Accountable to effectively manage work and school balance
  • Accountable to participate in department improvement initiatives
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.

Physical Requirements
  • Approximately 80% sitting and 20% standing/walking indoors
  • Lift and Carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Use head and neck in static position, looking up/down and side-to-side.
  • Perform light lifting from floor, table and shelf.
  • Push and pull carts or mobile tables, loaded and unloaded.
  • Minimal: heavy lifting from floor or higher, bending, twisting, climbing, lifting arms above shoulders, kneeling.
  • Minimal: exposure to excessive noise, hazardous chemicals, hazardous equipment, uneven walking surfaces
  • Typing with computer and keyboard
Qualifications

Education: Currently studying under a BSEE or other applicable degree at a 4‑year university (Studying under a postgraduate degree is also acceptable)

Experience:

Currently enrolled in Junior level Engineering classes (300 level) or higher level with a minimum GPA of 3.0

Work Schedule: Work between 12 and 30 hours per week depending on school schedule and school commitments.

Additional Information: This is a year‑round internship position with the potential to last through graduation. Work hours are flexible and determined based on school schedule. Up to 20 hours per week during the school year with potential for more hours during breaks and in the summer. Candidates must be local to the Tucson/Oro Valley areas.
