The University of Arizona's College of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants for the position of Academic Support Coordinator. This position provides high quality support to Academic Programs, Faculty Affairs and the CVM students in the Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine professional program. This position will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating the activities and functions within year 1, 2, and 3 of the curriculum, providing high level support to the CVM faculty, and the administrative support required to maintain optimal operation of the college.

The successful candidate will exercise initiative, resourcefulness and good judgment working in an environment that is fast paced and centered around team based learning and peer instruction. The candidate should have attention to detail, proficiency in the application of variety of computer software programs, demonstrate skills in multi tasking, possess a strong customer service orientation and have strong oral and written communication skills.

This position will work daily to ensure academic integrity is met through overseeing daily quizzes in the classroom, end of semester final exams, daily attendance (COE requirement), actively monitoring students in the classroom to ensure they are engaged in class. This person will be responsible for entering, maintaining and reporting grades to faculty, and sr. leadership for university and COE standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates, and implements, in-person support to the faculty, students and other academic programs support staff at the college utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other college specific software applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to increase transparency and ensure projects remain on target. Develop polices and procedures to provide guidance to faculty, staff and students. Troubleshoots issues, identifies areas for process improvement, and confers with faculty and staff to exemplify a solutions oriented approach to all issues.
  • Enters grading and attendance information into relevant databases and learning management system, ensuring secure backup and informing appropriate audiences.
  • Collects and reports attendance at the beginning of each session on behalf of the faculty.
  • Provides support to the academic programs department on proctoring for student assessments.
  • Monitors daily exams, end of semester exams for our multi-instructor, systems based curriculum to ensure the highest level of academic integrity is being met.
  • Maintains academic records (grades & attendance) within LMS and college specific data base for AVMA Council on Education and university reporting.
  • Provides assistance in the implementation and coordination of the college's academic programs and special academic events.
  • Has a basic knowledge and operation of University systems and college specific software applications.
  • Creates, plans and maintains, working calendar of blocks' weekly sessions.
  • Oversees that all DRC accommodated students' needs are met daily in the classrooms and reports as necessary back to Director.
  • Assists with ensuring that academic policies and procedures related to curriculum operations are accurate and up to date.
  • Conducts research on various aspects of domestic and international veterinary medical education programs.
  • Maintains course protocols, materials, exam questions, and test results.
  • Oversees and performs all purchasing requests as received. Oversees and manages all course and exam supplies.
  • Assists with the on boarding process through the development of materials, scheduling, and communication to various key contacts.
  • Works closely with course teams to ensure all curriculum requirements are being met.
  • Assists with setting up classrooms/labs for instruction.
  • Assists with special college academic events as needed.
  • Participates in preparing periodic reports and records on program activities, progress, status and other special reports as needed for accreditation and university.
