Safety Trainer​/Telco and Utilities​/Orlando, FL

This is a full-time opportunity for a Fiber Construction Trainer responsible for developing and delivering classroom and field-based training for underground fiber construction crews. The role focuses on Outside Plant (OSP) and Utility Power construction practices, heavy equipment operation, and safety compliance to ensure high-quality fiber installation.

This role is ideal for a seasoned underground fiber professional who enjoys teaching and mentoring others. You will shape how crews work in the field by setting training standards, improving safety performance, and ensuring consistent installation quality. This position offers the chance to directly impact operational excellence while helping technicians grow their skills and confidence.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in underground fiber OSP construction
• Hands‑on experience with trenching, plowing, boring, conduit installation, and fiber placement
• Strong knowledge of fiber optic construction methods and cable handling
• In‑depth understanding of OSP safety protocols and underground utility locating
• Ability to train and evaluate personnel on technical field skills

• Experience operating HDD rigs, trenchers, vibratory plows, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, and vacuum excavators
• Experience developing training materials, manuals, or certification standards
• Strong mentoring and coaching background
• Experience conducting field audits or performance evaluations

• Deliver classroom and hands‑on field training for underground fiber installation
• Train crews on safe and effective operation of heavy equipment
• Teach proper equipment setup, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Instruct on use of hand tools, power tools, and fiber installation and testing equipment
• Train employees on reading OSP prints, conduit maps, and fiber routing documentation
• Emphasize OSHA, DOT, and company safety compliance
• Demonstrate best practices for utility locating, potholing, and damage prevention
• Develop training manuals, checklists, and certification standards
• Evaluate trainee performance through observation and testing
• Conduct site visits and audits to verify proper field execution
