Overview
MCS is hiring for an Electrical/Low Voltage Apprentice in Orlando, Florida
. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits.
The Electrical/Low Voltage Apprentice must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret and execute drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications for commercial electrical equipment installations. The Electrical/Low Voltage Apprentice will require good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting. It is important that candidates keep abreast of industry trends and developments, as well as applicable government regulations.
Typicalduties / Responsibilities
- Installing, repairing, or replacing electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic line assemblies, lighting, and other electrical parts.
- Installing, repairing, or replacing generators and industrial storage batteries.
- Installing electrical circuits, as well as panels, conduit, protecting devices, switches, and equipment required to accommodate the CEC and/or NEC.
- Installing, maintaining, and calibrating industrial equipment and connected devices.
- Communicating clearly and concisely.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of the NEC.
- Reading and understanding blueprints/schematics.
Educational Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, Apprenticeship training preferred.
Certification RequirementsCertification Requirements: Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.
Experience Requirements- Needs to have a detailed knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
- Must enroll in the F.E.A.T program. (Currently enrolled candidates preferred).
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, etc.
- Ability to read, speak and understand English.
- Knowledge of “Safe” working practices (e.g. OSHA, Lock Out / Tag Out).
- Clean background with the ability to pass a required drug screening.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including overtime if necessary.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Must possess own transportation, as most locations aren’t accessible with public transportation.
