Key Responsibilities
- Splicing Coaxial Cables
:
Perform splicing of coax cables of various sizes, including aerial and underground installations. This includes tasks such as strand and lash, make-ready, and new build projects. - Installation of Equipment
:
Install passive and active devices, pedestals, vaults, and coax splice cases as part of network upgrades and new builds. - Troubleshooting
:
Diagnose and repair issues within coaxial cable systems, ensuring optimal performance and minimal signal loss. - Documentation
:
Maintain accurate records of splicing activities, including EOL readings and job documentation. - Safety Compliance
:
Adhere to safety standards and protocols while working in various environments, including confined spaces and elevated platforms.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience
:
Typically requires 2-5 years of experience in coaxial splicing or telecommunications construction. - Technical Knowledge
:
Proficiency in coaxial cable installation, splicing techniques, and familiarity with fiber-to-coax integration is preferred. - Problem-Solving Skills
:
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively, ensuring the reliability of communication systems. - Physical Requirements
:
Must be able to work at heights and in various weather conditions, demonstrating physical stamina and safety awareness. - Education
: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required; additional certifications in cable splicing or related fields are a plus.
